| | Rod and Gun Club insuranceFebruary 15, 2012 - Jessica CollierOne small thing that turned up at yesterday's town board meeting. Heads of the Rod and Gun Club were at the meeting to talk to the board about their lease. They mentioned in relation to something else that they plan on putting Preserve Associates on their insurance when it comes up for renewal in August. Something about the archery range abutting the ACR property, just to cover everyone's hides. Random point, but I just thought I'd mention it! LakeSimondFeb-16-12 9:01 PM tlersiwh, Are you referring to all the APA permits he got for the cement work in the water they did on the Lake Simond road property he still uses as a main land docking? I can’t find them – can you? Oh wait – it doesn’t matter anymore because they are trespassing on private property to drive to his camp and not paying taxes for road access. So are you thinking of the permit they got to drill in the bottom of simond pond to create a well which turned up to be a fools volley but still changed the ecology of the wetlands in that cove? Oh wait - that’s right - there were no permits! It's easier to ask forgiveness after than seek approval before! OR just see who will turn a blind eye to the great white hope of Tupper Lake. Get ready Tupper Lake for lots more of this – you just sold out! tlersiwhFeb-16-12 12:39 PM Saw the article in todays edition. So according to town Sup Amell the town wants to take the lower part of the R&G property under their control? "Paperworkwise and stuff it simplifies it"? This us just code for "Tom Lawson and the ACR want to use that waterfront and the town will do anything they ask us to". Jess could you also check with the Village code enforcement officer to make sure Lawson has his Asbestos Abatement and Lead Abatement permits as for the Casier building as required by NYS building code? And see if his contractor has Insurance as required by the Village. They just managed to get a building permit after working on the place for a month. Just want to make sure they are abiding by all the rules as any contractor has to. AdkBuddyFeb-16-12 12:37 PM Makes no sense to add Preserve Assoc. to the rod & Gun insurance. If there is an exposure here to be insured then PA should obtain the insurance and add the Rod and Gun to that policy. LakeSimondFeb-16-12 12:39 AM Don't be surprised when the ACR and Tom Lawson start using the land across the road from the Rod and Gun (also in the lease) to access the lake. This is not a CYA move - I am sure there is an ulterior motive as with everything else they have done. Seven years ago the ACR sponsor (with the heavy support of the town board) tried to buy the land where the Rod and Gun is - only to back away when he found out about lead contamination in the ground due to shooting. Maybe someone needs to remind them that the land across the street also is lead contaminated since that is where the original shooting range was many many years ago.
